Sustainable Ag and Food Systems Specialization Academic Specialist

Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan. This Academic Specialist will oversee development and implementation of undergraduate and graduate specializations in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems.

Duties will include:

 

·         Coordinating development and growth of undergraduate and graduate specializations in Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems;

·         Developing marketing and recruitment tools both intra-university as well as domestically and internationally for these specializations;

·         Implementing and maintaining the marketing program, including working with advisors at MSU and other Universities to promote awareness of these specializations among diverse populations.

·         Support students through following up on inquiries, advising, and record keeping, including involvement in coordinating experiential learning opportunities for students;

·         Coordinating and working with faculty of existing courses to augment and incorporate sustainability, organic and international components;

·         Coordinating and working with faculty to develop and deliver core courses for this Undergraduate Specialization.

·         Oversee and manage budget for Undergraduate and Graduate Specializations;

·         Coordinate annual program evaluation and develop an annual report on the Undergraduate and Graduate Specializations;

·         Other activities identified as the Specializations grow and mature.

 

PERCENT EMPLOYMENT: 100%. 12 month appointment, initial 3-yr appointment term, with opportunity for subsequent annual renewal based on satisfactory review and availability of funds.

                             

SALARY:  Commensurate with training and experience.

 

STATUS:  Academic specialist in Crop and Soil Sciences Department at Michigan State University reporting to Dr. Sieglinde Snapp.  Position is based in East Lansing, Michigan

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master of Science degree required in relevant field.  Experience/interest in sustainable agriculture and food systems. Experience in student recruitment and support, or academic program development. Demonstrated ability to work with a broad diversity of students, faculty and other interested participants.  Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.  The ability to develop collaborative programs and effective project teams is required.
