Cost-share monies available for IL certified organic growers

by Michelle Wander last modified May 04, 2009 11:55 AM

The Illinois Department of Agriculture has cost-share money to reimburse growers and handlers for 75% of their organic certification costs up to a maximum of $750.  New funding, $45,000, is for folks who were certified in the current fiscal year (to end Sept 30).  Money is distributed on a first come first serve basis so apply now.  There is a limit on one reimbursement per farm per year.

Applications are available on line at

www.agr.state.il.us/marketing/Mkt_Organic_Cost_Share_Program.html

or by calling 217-524-9129.

Applicants must return their application, a copy of their W-9, and an invoice for their certification costs from an accredited certifying agent plus proof of payment (cancelled check or copy of credit card statement).
