North Central Region SARE Diversity Research and Education Grants

The purpose of this program is to fund people and/or projects that can help NCR-SARE reach and work with underserved audiences to improve agricultural sustainability in the North Central Region

For the purposes of this grant program, underserved means individuals and groups who have not participated in or have received benefits from USDA programs which may improve their quality of life and/or the environment.  Examples....are farmers/ranchers and landowners/operators with limited resources, minority groups..., women, and the physically challenged.  Underserved farmers may also include small farmers, organic farmers, and other farmers with production practices that are different from most farmers in the area...."

Funding maximum is $100,000, project duration can range from a few months up to a maximum of 24 months. The Council will select proposals for funding that it believes will have the greatest impact on NCR-SARE work with underserved audiences; we anticipate funding one to three projects. Proposals are due November 30, 2007.
