A graduate research assistantship is immediately available at the Department of Plant and Soil Science of Texas Tech University leading to a Ph.D in soil science with an emphasis in soil microbiology/biochemistry.

A graduate research assistantship is immediately available at the Department of Plant and Soil Science of Texas Tech University leading to a Ph.D in soil science with an emphasis in soil microbiology/biochemistry. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing research in integrated livestock-cropping systems (potential sub-topics include ammonia-oxidizing bacteria, N2O flux measurements, N mineralization, etc.) or develop an original program in native grassland systems exposed to prescribed burning, irrigated cotton production systems, or organic agriculture. The ideal candidate will have a background in microbiology, soil science, molecular biology, ecology, or a related area.  Coursework could begin as early as Summer or Fall 2009 semester.
