Start planning now for a day in the country. Enjoy a meal under the trees with good food and good company in support of Slow Food local activities.

This picnic is open to all, of course, with a suggested donation to achieve our fundraising goal. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Goose Creek  Convivium and the local food scene in Central Illinois. Please encourage folks who are thinking of joining the convivium to come to the farm!

The menu will include lamb and turkey slow roasted outside, with mouthwatering smells! Side dishes will include the special potluck dishes from convivium members. Wine and other beverages will be donated for all to enjoy. With luck, last year's excellent acoustic music group will provide the perfect accompaniment again.

John and Connie's farm is a "grass" farm. John will lead a tour to get up close to the 600+ Heritage Turkeys being raised this year. For the last 7 years Caveny Farm has raised Bourbon Reds as part of the Slow Food Presidia project, established to save, protect, and promote endangered breeds. "Saving, protecting, and promoting" also means enjoying these birds at our kitchen table, and Caveny Farm turkeys will eventually grace Thanksgiving tables throughout the Midwest.
