E-mail: mwander@uiuc.edu Dr. Wanders is an Associate Professor of Soil Fertility/Ecology in the Natural Resource and Environmental Sciences Department. In addition to providing leadership for the ASAP, her research addresses the function of, and factors influencing, soil organic matter in natural and managed ecosystems. Ongoing research includes studied of the influence of elevated CO2 and O3 on roots and soil organic matter response, characterization of management (organic management, crop rotation, biomass crops, tillage and fertilization) on organic matter fractions, dynamics, leaching and trace gas emissions, Bt toxin persistence in soils, climate and agriculture, and the relationship SOC, co-benefits, and economic policy.

Anderson worked for several years coordinating on-farm research with farmer-based sustainable agriculture organizations in Illinois. He serves as Chairman of the Illinois Sustainable Agriculture Committee, providing oversight for the IDOA C-2000 Sustainable Agriculture Grant Program. Anderson works with the Organic Task Force in planning the annual Illinois Organic Production and Market Conference, and is responsible for the development of the new ASAP website.

His research is on decision analysis, strategy implementation, operations management and economic analysis of firms in food and agribusiness sector.

Crystal is a secretary in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences, where she has worked for the past four years. Crystal was part of the Functional Foods for Health Program within the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition prior to joining NRES. For the last two years she has provided support for ASAP, working with Michelle Wander, Deborah Cavanaugh-Grant and Dan Anderson to organize the Annual Illinois Organic Production conferences, Sustainable Ag tours and most recently the Farm Beginnings Program. She also layout and design services for ASAP in the development of printed and web-based promotional materials.
