The Huls Farm is a grass-based dairy
Production approach: Certified Organic
Rotations: Permanent pasture
Cover crops: None
IPM used: Intensive rotational grazing
Tillage: Discovator -- disc/cultivator/harrow combo tool
Soil amendment program: Lime, manure, as needed per bi-annual soil test
Soil tests: Click HERE.

Field was visited 5/8/09. Soils were wet. Pasture was in good condition. Multifloral Rose was observed growing in fence rows of some of the paddocks. A plan will be developed for organic management of MFR. Last year Tony tilled and planted sudan grass in a paddock infested with bull thistle (a bi-annual. He grazed the field heavily last fall. No bull thistle was visible this Spring in the paddock.
