Overview

Friday afternoon symposia will address the science of information and the practice of information processing and sharing, as well as consider how infrastructure and organizations are evolving to increase our ability to address the challenging topic sustainable land use. Keynote presentations will showcase projects and informatics applications relevant to problem solving and the conduct of research addressing landscapes, land use, and land management.

Saturday workshops will be led by researchers actively using informatics to study land use. Workshops will include hands on training to teach participants how to use a variety of tools to collaborate, acquire, process and visualize data. Participants will learn about what’s already going on here at UIUC and elsewhere, acquire new skills, make contacts with others interested in this subject matter area, and contribute to ongoing planning related to land use cyberinfrastructure.

Who Should Attend

This conference is for the campus community whose research and teaching programs address ecology and environmental sciences that are particularly interested in land, its management, and the resulting influence on the environment.
