Introduction to Ecological Metadata Language (EML) Preparation Using Morpho

by Bryan Heidorn last modified September 06, 2007 04:30 PM
This workshop will include a brief introduction describing the benefits metadata provide for both creators and users of data sets, as well as a hands-on overview of creating an Ecological Metadata Language (EML) record using Morpho, a freely-available metadata editor for EML. Morpho allows you to create and manage your data, and to share it with others. It was created to provide an easy-to-use, cross-platform application for accessing and manipulating metadata and data (both locally and on the network).

Morpho allows ecologists to create metadata, (i.e. describe their data in a standardized format), and create a catalog of data & metadata upon which to query, edit and view data collections. In addition, It also provides the means to access network servers, in order to query, view and retrieve all relevant, public ecological data! Morpho is available from the Knowledge Network for Biocomplexity (KNB).
The KNB is a national network intended to facilitate ecological and environmental research on biocomplexity.
