This seminar, sponsored by the department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at UIUC, is presented by Dr. Sarah Taylor Lovell. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Plant & Soil Science at the University of Vermont, Burlington, VT.
An expert from the abstract for her presentation:
"Many communities would benefit from producing more of their food and fuels locally, but the integration of agriculture is rarely considered by landscape designers and community planners. Issues such as restrictive land use zoning, insufficient marketslimited support for small diversified farmers, and lack of innovative design alternatives create significant barriers for local production. I propose a research vision that addresses these issues and offers specific goals for agricultural production to guide future planning efforts."
