New rules trouble local bakers at Urbana's farmer's market
Just a few weeks before opening day at the Urbana farmer's market, local bakers received a letter from the Champaign-Urbana Health District saying they can't sell at a farmer's market without a valid health permit. In the past, selling goods made in their home kitchens was permitted.

"URBANA- Mom and pop bakers are being told to get a license or keep your pies at home. Champaign-Urbana Health District sent out a letter last week. It said they can't sell at a farmer's market without a valid health permit.
The farmer's market at the Lincoln Square Mall in Urbana opens May 2nd. That's why these vendors are furious. You cannot get a license if you're cooking in your home. They're used to spending summers at the Lincoln Square Mall. But now that tradition is over."
