How to publish documents...or make them private

So you added an event, a news item, or a page and it's not showing up where you want it....what gives? Well, many parts of the site require a document to be published, one of the states available,  before it shows up, which allows us to approve the content.

What state is my document in?

To find out what state your document is in, look at the far right edge of the green bar

This document is a "public draft," which means everyone can see it and you can link to it, but it's not officially approved by the site

How do I change it?

Click on the circled area and a drop down menu should appear. If the document is unpublished and you are a regular member, it should look like the image below

Make Private
: this makes the document only visible to you and those you have specifically shared it with
Submit (for publication!!): This submits it to the site's managers and editors. If they approve it, it will be published.

If you are an editor or manager on the ASAP site, you will see another option, which is "publish," which publishes it immediately. When you are viewing documents submitted, you will also see the option to approve or reject.

Once it is submitted it can be retracted by the owner using the same menu.
