With the cold Midwest winters, an aquaculture system combined with a hydroponic greenhouse system can provide year-round fish, herbs and fresh vegetables. The Center for Sustainable Community presents this tour of AquaRanch in Flanagan, IL which offers a first-hand look at one of the most successful greenhouse/aquaculture systems in the state. Not only does AquaRanch begin the process in their own fish hatchery, but they even have a line of salad dressings made with their organically produced basil. Presented by: Myles Harston of AquaRanch Cost is $35. The Center for Sustainable Community is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization offering seminars and workshops in holistic health, renewable energy, green building, and sustainable agriculture.
